How to delete burst photos on iPhone and keep the best shot
Updated October 2026 · 3 min read
Burst mode takes many photos per second, which is great for action and terrible for storage. Most bursts need just one or two frames.
Keep only the best frames of a burst
- Open Photos and go to Media Types → Bursts.
- Open a burst and tap Select at the bottom.
- Swipe through the frames and tap the ones you want to keep.
- Tap Done, then Keep Only Favorites.
The rest of the frames go to Recently Deleted.
What about shots that aren't bursts?
Tapping the shutter five times in a row creates five separate photos, not a burst, so the Bursts album won't show them. These near-identical series are often the biggest source of clutter.
