How to find and delete blurry photos on iPhone
Updated October 2026 · 3 min read
Shaky hands, moving kids, a pocket shot by accident: every camera roll collects blurry photos. They're rarely worth keeping, but finding them one by one takes forever.
Why Photos can't do it for you
The Photos app groups duplicates, screenshots and videos, but it has no filter for blur. Searching for "blurry" doesn't work either. You'd have to scroll and zoom into every photo yourself.
The manual way
- Open Photos and switch to the library grid.
- Pinch to make thumbnails bigger, so blur is easier to see.
- Tap Select, tap the blurry ones, then tap the trash button.
It works, but it's slow, and small thumbnails hide a lot of blur.
The fast way: Emberoll's Blurry category
- Open Emberoll and tap Blurry.
- Emberoll measures the sharpness of every photo on your device and lists the out-of-focus ones.
- Tap a photo to check it up close. Deselect anything you want to keep, then tap Delete and confirm.
Blurry is part of Emberoll Pro, and it also opens for free on day 30 of your daily cleanup streak.
Before you delete
- Some blur is intentional, like motion shots or night photos. Keep the ones you like.
- Deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, so mistakes are easy to undo.
Do it in two minutes with Emberoll
